Stonewall Estates Winter Wedding

November 2nd, 2024

Leigh loves winter. I mean she LOVES winter. When she and Matt chose November for their wedding date she was hoping for a winter wonderland to celebrate their love. In the Niagara Region there’s no telling what you’ll get in November. You could have a warm sunny day or a blizzard. Leigh and Matt had somewhere in between.

Stonewall was the perfect backdrop for them to share their personal vows (which were incredible by the way). There was no snow on their chosen date but it didn’t stop them from having a “snow covered” recessional thanks to the packages of coconut “snowflakes” left on each guest's chair.

The landscape at Stonewall is gorgeous and has a variety of backdrop options which is a photographer's dream.  There is a huge barn, a vineyard, a forest, a water with a dock and perfectly for Leigh, pine trees.

The bridal cottage on the property just steps away from everything is perfect for getting ready, for those pre wedding detail photos and a great spot for a newly married couple to slip away to catch their breath from the action that naturally takes place on a wedding day.

Em, the coordinator for Stonewall weddings, was instrumental in helping Leigh's winter wedding visions come true. The barn was set up with more Christmas trees than you can imagine. The centerpieces were lanterns with candles and pine details. The two tiered wedding cake was simple. It looked like it was covered in snow with a simple pine cone on top. There were rich green accents and Christmas ornament favors. There was no shortage of twinkle lights.

Sunsets at Stonewall are stunning. Every couple wants a sunset photo on their wedding day and any photographer will tell you, golden hour and sunset are our favorite times to capture intimate moments. I love to steal couples away so they can share a private moment in the most perfect light.

Leigh and Matt's photography portion of their day ended with black skies and bubbles, a fun ending to an amazing wedding day.
